If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then one of the Computer Information Systems (CIS) programs at Middle Georgia Technical College may be right for you! The opportunities are endless in the CIS programs at MGTC and students can take a variety of courses including: computer programming, personal computer maintenance and repair, home/business networking and office technologies. Students in CIS programs may graduate with a diploma or Associate of Applied Science degree in: Internet Specialist— Computer Support Specialist; or Networking Specialist. The CIS department also offers a variety of certificate programs including: CISCO Networking Specialist; PC Repair and Network Technician; and CompTIA A+ Certified Preparation.
Job Outlook:
According to the Department of Labor, Computer Information Systems careers are predicted to be among the fastest growing occupations in Georgia over the next decade. CIS program graduates at MGTC are prepared for a variety of careers including: network administrator, computer programmer, office specialist, PC repair technician, network installation & configuration technician, and computer help desk assistant. Entry-level salaries in the Middle Georgia area range from $27,000 - $34,000.

The Computer Information Systems - Computer Support Specialist associate degree program is a sequence of courses designed to provide students with an understanding of the concepts, principles, and techniques required in computer information processing. The IT Professional Associate degree will emphasize specialized training in home and corporate networking; computer maintenance; operating system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting; information security; computer programming; and web site design. These skills represent the subset of knowledge expected from graduates in the MGTC service area. The program graduate receives an Associate of Applied Science Degree and is employable as an information technology specialist, help desk support specialist, network installation specialist, PC repair technician, or network administrator.

The CISCO Networking Specialist technical certificate of credit program provides a complete study of data communications, Local Area Networks (LANs), and Wide Area Networks IANs) from the fundamental concepts to LAN and WAN design. Degree Types
At MGTC we offer three different levels of credit programs:
- Associate Degree
- Middle Georgia Technical College offers associate level degrees. They usually take 2 years to complete. AAS programs include general education (core) courses that may transfer to University System of Georgia schools in our state.
- Diploma
- Middle Georgia Technical College's Diploma Level programs usually take between 1 and 1.5 years to complete and include basic courses, as well as specific technical or occupational courses to prepare students for the workforce.
- Certificate
- Technical Certificates of Credit (TCCs) usually take about 2 quarters (half a year) to complete and generally focus on very specialized knowledge. These programs teach students specific skills that they can apply in the workforce.
