Paralegal Studies
The Paralegal Studies (PLS) program at MGTC is designed to train students to become paralegals or legal assistants, qualified to aid lawyers in the delivery of legal services. Graduates of the Paralegal Studies program will be able to conduct research, interview clients, and draft court documents and other legal correspondence.
The PLS program provides training in ethical obligations; research of state and federal law; legal correspondence preparation; family law matters; basic concepts of real property law; criminal law and procedure; civil litigation; tort law; substantive contract law; and wills, trusts, and probate. We offer day and evening courses.
Job Outlook:
Graduates of the Paralegal Studies program are prepared for employment in a variety of positions which require specialized legal knowledge, as well as research and communication skills. Entry level salaries in the Middle Georgia area range from $19,000 - $24,000.

The Advanced Legal Assistant TCC is a sequence of technical courses targeted to students with bachelor's degrees who wish to prepare for paralegal positions in the law office. Learning opportunities develop technical and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. This TCC in addition to a bachelor's degree will make students eligible to sit for the Certified Paralegal exam by the National Association of Legal Assistants.

Degree Types
At MGTC we offer three different levels of credit programs:
- Associate Degree
- Middle Georgia Technical College offers associate level degrees. They usually take 2 years to complete. AAS programs include general education (core) courses that may transfer to University System of Georgia institutions and other 4-year colleges in our state.
- Diploma
- Middle Georgia Technical College's Diploma Level programs usually take between 1 and 1.5 years to complete and include basic courses, as well as specific technical or occupational courses to prepare students for the workforce.
- Certificate
- Technical Certificates of Credit (TCCs) usually take about 1-2 semesters to complete and generally focus on very specialized knowledge. These programs teach students specific skills that they can apply in the workforce.
