Advanced Legal Assistant

The Advanced Legal Assistant Technical Certificate is designed to provide educational opportunities for persons with baccalaureate degrees, who are seeking to gain new employment skills and enable them to become successfully employed in the paralegal profession. Emphasis will be placed on skills needed for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The TCC courses provide instruction in Paralegal Fundamentals, Legal Research, Civil Litigation, and substantive law, such as Real Estate Law, Torts, and Contracts and Commercial Law. Medical Language Specialist

Medical Office Assistant

Microsoft Office Applications Professional

The Microsoft Office Applications Professional Specialist Technical Certificate of Credit is designed to train the student in software applications of word processing, database, and spreadsheet in addition to general office skills such as filing, good telephone techniques, appropriate business ethics and office behavior. A minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute must be achieved or the completion of BUS 101, Beginning Document Processing. The Student can complete the required eight classes in two full-time day quarters and will be prepared for entry-level positions in the clerical field. Upon completion of this certificate, students may then transfer into the BAT Diploma Program for an additional three full time quarters to receive a diploma in Business AdministrativeTechnology.

Paralegal Fundamentals

The Paralegal Fundamentals technical certificate of credit program prepares students for positions in the paralegal profession. Patient Care Assisting

The Patient Care Assisting Technical Certificate of Credit program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to succeed as assistants in patient care in nursing homes and other health care facilities.  The program includes the Certified Nursing Assistant program (CNA-100), as approved by the Georgia Medical Care Foundation, as well as courses currently being taught under state standards in the general areas of psycho-social needs of patients, work ethics, communications, infection control, patient hygiene, nourishment, taking vital signs, and patient care.  The program requires 16-credit hours and 190 contact hours.  Students should be able to successfully complete the program in one to two quarters.  Program completers are qualified to take the State certification test for CNAs.

Degree Types

At MGTC we offer three different levels of credit programs:

Associate Degree
Middle Georgia Technical College offers associate level degrees. They usually take 2 years to complete. AAS programs include general education (core) courses that may transfer to University System of Georgia schools in our state.
Diploma
Middle Georgia Technical College's Diploma Level programs usually take between 1 and 1.5 years to complete and include basic courses, as well as specific technical or occupational courses to prepare students for the workforce.
Certificate
Technical Certificates of Credit (TCCs) usually take about 2 quarters (half a year) to complete and generally focus on very specialized knowledge. These programs teach students specific skills that they can apply in the workforce.
