Air Conditioning
Could you imagine a life without air conditioning and heating to keep comfortable? The HVACR industry covers the comfort systems - heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration - that our society depends on year-round. The heating and cooling industry is a $150 billion a year business that employs many people, and more and more skilled people are needed to fill the increasing demand!
The Air Conditioning program at MGTC familiarizes students with the basic refrigeration cycle, thermodynamics, air conditioning, fossil fuel systems, heat pump systems, subsystems, and safety. Students also become familiar with the special tools required to perform system design, servicing, and diagnostic techniques on installed systems. Many graduates of the program begin their careers as service technicians - installing new units, servicing broken ones, and maintaining existing units.
Job Outlook:
Graduates of the Air Conditioning Technology program are qualified for service technician and maintenance positions with contractors, dealer supply companies, and many other heating and air conditioning businesses. Entry level salaries in the Middle Georgia area range from $25,000 - $29,000.
