Industrial and Electrical Systems

Even the finest of machinery needs maintenance and repair. The Industrial Systems Technology program at MGTC prepares its students for the installation, maintenance, and repair of these production system machines and components in industrial facilities.

Students develop skills in many areas of Industrial Systems Technology including: Electronics, industrial wiring, motors and controls, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), instrumentation, fluid power, mechanical, pumps and piping, computers, hydraulic, and programmable logic controls. Graduates of the program receive an Industrial Systems technology diploma. Day, evening, and some online courses are available.

Job Outlook:

Graduates of the Industrial Systems Technology program are prepared for careers as an Industrial Systems technician, electrician, or mechanic. Some of our students work in the Maintenance departments at many government, production, industrial, and manufacturing and maintenance facilities in the Middle Georgia area. Entry-level salaries for the Middle Georgia area range from $25,000 - $33,000.

Associate Degrees

Technical Studies

Students who have completed a technical studies or industrial technology program at a diploma level may have that training apply toward earning an associate degree. The associate in applied science degree in technical studies applies to those students who are best served by a customized degree. Potential students in this degree track will, after application procedures are completed, have their training, industry experience, and general academic level evaluated. An individual program of study will be designed and approved for each student by an advisor.
