MGTC Logo Wrapped Commercial Truck From developing the skills necessary to parallel park a vehicle that is over 70 feet long, to learning how to plan a trip from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, the Commercial Truck Driving Program at MGTC offers students the chance to be part of one of the most vital industries in this country! Graduates obtain the necessary tools for success in this demanding career field. Upon completion of the program, students will be tested and will receive their Class “A” CDL license. Students will receive both the academic and driving skills required to become a successful Professional Driver. We offer day and evening classes in a 10-week program.

Job Outlook:

Individuals pursuing a career as a Professional Truck Driver have many types of driving jobs available upon completion of the program. There are local jobs and over-the-road jobs available. Entry level salaries in the Middle Georgia area range from $24,000 - $28,000.

Technical Certificates of Credit

Commercial Truck Driving

The Commercial Truck Driving Program is a Technical Certificate of Credit that prepares students to safely and efficiently operate large commercial vehicles on the U.S. highway system. Topics included are fundamentals of commercial truck driving , basic operations, and advanced operations. The program is conducted for ten weeks and is offered quarterly.

Degree Types

At MGTC we offer three different levels of credit programs:

Associate Degree
Middle Georgia Technical College offers associate level degrees. They usually take 2 years to complete. AAS programs include general education (core) courses that may transfer to University System of Georgia schools in our state.
Diploma
Middle Georgia Technical College's Diploma Level programs usually take between 1 and 1.5 years to complete and include basic courses, as well as specific technical or occupational courses to prepare students for the workforce.
Certificate
Technical Certificates of Credit (TCCs) usually take about 2 quarters (half a year) to complete and generally focus on very specialized knowledge. These programs teach students specific skills that they can apply in the workforce.
