Our SkillsUSA chapter at MGTC has two students competing, South Georgia Tech (Americus) has one student competing, and Middle Georgia College (Eastman) will have two competing. The winner will go on to the National SkillsUSA competition to represent Georgia June 21-26 in Kansas City, MO. Members from our local aviation business and industry will participate as judges for this competition. It will give competitors a chance to showcase their learned skills as well as allow our aviation community a chance to see what we are producing as employees for the aviation industry. The SkillsUSA motto is: "Preparing for leadership in the world of work." Having this opportunity for chapter members/competitors and industry and business members get together for networking benefits all involved.

MGTC will host the first annual Race for Education, a 5k/10k/fun run benefitting literacy education. This is a Run & See Georgia event. Registration is at 7 am and the races begin at 8 am. The course begins at MGTC and continues through the Houston Commons area. Early registration for the 5k and 10k race is $20. After October 6, the entry fee is $25 with no shirt guarantee. The one-mile fun run/walk entry fee is $5 with no shirt and Phantom runners (receive a t-shirt but no participation in events) are $10 for entry. April 1: 6th Annual MGTC Foundation Golf Tournament

The MGTC Foundation's 6th annual Golf Tournament to support student scholarships at MGTC will take place April 1st at Houston Lake Country Club in Perry. The tournament begins with lunch at 11 am, followed by a shotgun scramble at noon. Hole sponsorships, including a four-person team, are available for $1,000. Corporate sponsorships, which include entry for two teams, are $5,000. All sponsorships include entry fees, lunch, and golf shirts for the team. Over $4,000 in prizes will be awarded at the tournament, including prizes for long drives and closest to the pin. Additionally, special prizes will be available for a hole-in-one and a 50/50 raffle will be available. The Association for Information Technology Professionals (AITP) club at Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins will host the first annual regional competition for college and university AITP clubs in Middle Georgia. Colleges expected to participate include Macon State College, Georgia College and State University, Central Georgia Technical College, Gwinnett Technical College, Atlanta Technical College, and MGTC.
