MGTC Air Conditioning Technology Program Granted Re-Accreditation

Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robbins Georgia has been granted accreditation of its Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program by HVAC Excellence, the HVAC industry's credentialing agency. MGTC was originally granted a six-year accreditation in 2003 and was the first technical college HVAC program in the state of Georgia to achieve program accreditation.Read More

The Child Development Center (CDC) at Middle Georgia Technical College (MGTC) in Warner Robins officially opened its doors June 1 to MGTCs youngest students - children ages 3 through 12. The mission of the CDC, the Colleges newest initiative, is to provide a safe, rich learning environment, deliberately designed to foster the learning of young children through exploration and discovery. The student body at Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins was invited to vote in the Student Leadership Council (SLC)elections held in the A building Auditorium Wednesday, May 27. Officers for the organizations were selected through a secret-ballot vote. Results of the election will be announced Wednesday, June 3.

Candidates seeking an elected position include Tifany Gatewood and Sommer White for President; Sharie Patterson and Sam Waterman for Vice-President; Kristin Foran and Rhonda Hightower for Secretary; Patience Phinisee for Treasurer; Janet Soderman for Parliamentarian; Audrey Milton and London Soutar for Historian.

MGTC Students Improvise During Temporary Power Outage

Cosmetology Instructor Tarrell Small's class moved their class outside early Thursday morning during a temporary power outage on campus. The power was out for a short time for unknown reasons along Cohen Walker Drive. Instead of delaying their styling class, the students decided to move operations outside. And, since the weather was so nice, the students continued their outdoor styling after the power came back on.Read More

On March 26, state and local leaders came together for ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating a successful partnership recently formed between three state agencies. The Georgia Department of Corrections, the Georgia Department of Agriculture, and Middle Georgia Technical College recently developed a partnership to provide an equine rescue program at Pulaski State Prison (PSP) in Hawkinsville and at the same time, provide inmates with vocational training for successful reentry into society.Read More

Nebraska transplant Joi King would tell you that for her the opportunity came in the form of a paper leaflet looking for volunteers in a neighborhood literacy program several years ago. The Houston County Board of Education (HCBOE) and Middle Georgia Technical College (MGTC) in partnership have been awarded a $3 million grant for a career academy. The State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia approved the award today. The goal of a career academy is to provide students the training needed to fill existing jobs, or jobs that will exist soon, and to ensure that all students have the necessary skills and work ethic for employment prior to leaving high school. MGTC will offer dual enrollment certificate programs at the Houston County Career Academy so that high school students may earn job-relevant college credit at no cost to them or their parents while still in high school.Read More
