EAGLE Delegate Chosen at Middle Georgia Technical College

Warner Robins - Olga Clark, a student in the Adult Education department at Middle Georgia Technical College, has been selected as the EAGLE, or Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education, delegate for MGTC. She will attend the EAGLE Leadership Institute in Atlanta February 11-13, 2009.

The EAGLE Leadership Institute recognizes and honors those students who have demonstrated superior achievement in adult education classes and programs. Clark, a student at the Corder Road MGTC Adult Education Center in Warner Robins, was nominated for the award by her instructor Joi King.

EAGLE is the first statewide program in the nation that recognizes and rewards excellence among students enrolled in adult education programs. This student recognition program is designed to create greater awareness of educational opportunities that are available in local communities across the state and to foster greater involvement in lifelong learning pursuits.

Every EAGLE delegate is considered an ambassador and spokesperson for literacy serving local communities and the state by promoting lifelong learning. Since its inception in 1993, the EAGLE Award program has recognized more than 1,600 outstanding students across the state. In addition to serving as volunteer role models for family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers, EAGLE delegates serve as mentors, peer tutors, and recruiters of other students into local adult education programs.

The Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) through its Office of Adult Education (OAE) sponsors the annual Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) Leadership Institute.

MGTC Adult Education services, including test preparation and literacy training are offered at no cost in Dooly, Houston, Peach, and Pulaski Counties. For more information on the Adult Education/GED program at Middle Georgia Technical College, call (478) 929-6789 or log on to www.middlegatech.edu.
