Lockheed Martin, Middle Georgia Tech Sign Agreement

Warner Robins - Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics (LM Aero) of Greenville, South Carolina recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding benefitting students enrolled in Aerospace programs at MGTC. This agreement will help implement a comprehensive workforce development strategy to ensure a pipeline of skilled workers for Lockheed Martin's future workforce needs in the Middle Georgia region.

Currently, L M Aero, is submitting a proposal to receive the Georgia-Robins Aerospace Maintenance Partnership (G-RAMP) contract. The G-RAMP project is a proposed partnership between Robins Air Force Base and that local community for the construction of approximately 420,000 square foot aerospace industrial complex on 96 acres of land owned by the City of Warner Robins adjacent to Robins Air Force Base. This complex will facilitate a Public-Private Partnership between the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center (WR-ALC) and private industry to share weapon system sustainment capabilities in order to improve aircraft availability and reduce costs.

If awarded the G-RAMP contract, LM Aero plans to hire Middle Georgia Technical College graduates to support its operations.

Gary Newman, Manager, Business Development Global Sustainment Services for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company in Greenville, South Carolina, and Jon E. Gustafson, Manager, Workforce Development for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Fort Worth, Texas, were on hand to sign the Memorandum of Understanding.

As part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by MGTC and LM Aero, the aerospace company will provide the college with technical product data and educational resources. LM Aero will also work collaboratively with MGTC to reach out to K-12 students to generate interest in Aerospace careers and will participate in existing youth-targeted MGTC programs such as dual enrollment, co-ops, and internships. LM Aero will also participate in periodic college-sponsored events such as Career Days and keep the college informed of workforce information beneficial to the students, such as hiring opportunities and wage levels.

Aerospace programs offered by Middle Georgia Technical College include Aviation Maintenance and Aircraft Structural Technology. In addition, MGTC offers Aircraft Structural Technology at the Sam Way, Sr. Workforce Development Center in Hawkinsville.
