MGTC Honor Society Inducts Members

Warner Robins - The Middle Georgia Technical College Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) recently inducted 12 new members. The induction ceremony was held during the Spring Quarter Awards Day Ceremony in the Auditorium at MGTC's campus in Warner Robins.

Cindy Rumney, Computer Information Systems instructor, and Jolie Martin, Cosmetology instructor, both advisors for NTHS, conducted the ceremony.

For their induction, the students stood as a group and recited the membership pledge. Each student was then called on stage to receive a certificate and lapel pin. In addition, they each received a special gift bag.

To receive this honor, students must be nominated by an instructor, be a full-time student at SGTC for at least two complete quarters, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.8. The student must also demonstrate leadership abilities and display a commendable attitude, good mentality, worthy character, credible achievement, and a desire to pursue a career in the field of his or her technical study.

Middle Georgia Technical College students who were inducted during the ceremony include Amaris Askew of Fort Valley, Cosmetology; Tela Mollohan of Fort Valley, Computer Information Systems; Richard Radford of Warner Robins, Aircraft Structural Technology; Donna Champagne of Macon, Cosmetology; Laura Taylor of Warner Robins, Accounting; Emily Davis of Warner Robins, Computer Information Systems; Melodi Thomas of Bonaire, Cosmetology; Charlotte Gordon of Hawkinsville, Electronics; Brenda Volz of Kathleen, Accounting; Samantha McCrory of Warner Robins, Accounting; and Amanda Westbury of Cordele, Cosmetology.

As a member of NTHS, students must possess the seven characteristic principles of the organization which are knowledge, skill, honesty, service, responsibility, citizenship, and leadership. The Society has recognized outstanding student achievement in workforce education since 1984. Over 1,500 schools and colleges throughout the U.S. and its territories are affiliated with NTHS. Induction into NTHS is a benchmark—the highest award for excellence in the workforce education in America.
