Scholarships Awarded at Middle Georgia Technical College

Warner Robins - The Middle Georgia Technical College Foundation recently awarded scholarships to 11 students at the Winter Quarter Awards Day ceremony held in June. Over $4,700 in cash awards were given to students to help with costs associated with furthering their education, including tuition, books, fees, and supplies.

The scholarship process is organized by the Financial Aid office at MGTC. After applications are submitted, a committee reviews the applicants to make award decisions. The scholarship selection committee for the Spring Quarter included Dann Webb, director of Admissions; Sonja Jenkins, registrar, Cheryl Stelk, director of Advancement; and MGTC Foundation Trustee Marsha Buzzell, director of the Warner Robins Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

Students selected for scholarships include Kevin Barkley, an Aviation Maintenance Technology student from Warner Robins, who received the Flint Energies Foundation Scholarship; Donna Champagne, a Cosmetology student Macon, who received the Warner Robins Rotary Club Scholarship; and Julia Moore, an Information Technology student from Hawkinsville, who received the Way Family Hawkinsville Scholarship.

The Billy G. Edenfield Scholarship was awarded to Amanda Goff, an Accounting student from Warner Robins. In addition, Sondra Perine, a Cosmetology student from Warner Robins, received the Awaken: Aveda Salon and Spa Cosmetology Scholarship and Luciana Rowe, a Practical Nursing student from Elko received the Danyel B. Allen Scholarship.

Five Middle Georgia Technical College Foundation scholarships were also awarded during Spring Quarter. Recipients of these $500 awards include Dustin Smith, an Air Conditioning Technology student from Elko; Peggy Clark, and Dental Hygiene student from Kathleen, Karen Stanley, an Aircraft Structural student from Perry; Melissa Wilson, a Business Office Technology student from Warner Robins; and Amanda Westbury, a Cosmetology student from Cordele.

The Middle Georgia Technical College Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the College and its students by supplementing available state resources with private funding to help further the College's mission of contributing to the economic and educational development of the community.
