Terma North America, MGTC Sign Agreement

Warner Robins - Terma North America, Inc. of Warner Robins and Middle Georgia Technical College (MGTC) have signed a memorandum of understanding establishing a cooperative educational and work experience program for students in the Aviation Maintenance Technology and Electronics Technology programs at MGTC.

This co-op is intended to provide students with an opportunity to gain realistic work experience in repair, fabrication, and inspection of military and commercial aircraft applications. To participate in the program, a student must have completed at least four quarters at Middle Georgia Technical College and be recommended by an instructor.

Students will work for three six-month periods on the co-op program with Terma North America, during which students will work a regular 40-hour work week. Students will alternate work time with six months of full-time course work at MGTC. After completion of the program and their course of study, students are eligible for an offer of full time employment. Terma North America is a contractor for Robins Air Force Base.

Terma North America is a subsidiary of Terma A/S, a leading Denmark-based defense and aerospace company and developer of electronic warfare systems, reconnaissance systems, and aeronautic structures for high performance military aircraft. Terma also provides radar, command, control, and communication systems, and application and services for space.

Terma A/S is headquartered in Lystrup, Denmark and has subsidiary facilities worldwide, including Warner Robins. The company employs approximately 1,100 people worldwide and realized 2007 revenues of approximately $200 million.

Middle Georgia Technical College strives to offer students a top-quality technical education, along with hands-on experience to prepare students for the workforce. Co-ops, including this agreement with Terma North America, allow students the opportunity to work and earn money while learning the practical theory and skills necessary to be a successful employee.
