MGTC Titans Basketball Teams Makes the Holidays Brighter for Foster Children

Warner Robins - The Titans basketball team worked to make the Christmas season a little brighter for some local children this year. After holding a fundraiser raffle, Bobby Brown, head coach for the Middle Georgia Technical College Titans, and members of his team made a monetary presentation to staff members of the Houston County Department of Family and Children's Services (DFACS) to go toward purchasing Christmas gifts for local foster children.

The Titans raffled off a basket filled with over $150 worth of Mary Kay items. After selling over 390 tickets for the raffle, the drawing for the basket was held Friday, Dec. 11 with Larry Hollis of Macon being selected as the winner.

Coach Brown initiated the fundraiser as a way to give back and to show his players the true meaning of the Christmas season.

"I want our players to be able to see the benefits of giving," said Brown. "By doing activities such as this, the team is able to not only learn a valuable lesson, but they also bond as teammates. We hope to continue this program each year so we can continue to help local families."

In addition to Houston County DFACS, a portion of the proceeds from the Titans raffle was also presented to the Rainbow House in Warner Robins.

The basket of Mary Kay items was donated by Lawanda Shelley-Brown of Warner Robins, a local independent Mary Kay beauty consultant.
