Middle Georgia Technical College Ranked in Community College Week Magazine
Warner Robins - For the second year in a row, Middle Georgia Technical College has been ranked among the top 100 producing two-year colleges for one-year certificates by Community College Week (CCW) Magazine. CCW is a national publication that is published in Virginia.
MGTC ranking for 2009 is 25th. This is up from the 29th spot in 2008.
The top 100 rankings published by CCW are based on data for degrees and certificates awarded during the 2007-2008 academic year. The data are collected by the National Center for Education Statistics, or NCES, through Integrated Post-secondary Education Data Set, or IPEDS, completions survey. Only one other college in Georgia, Gwinnett Technical College, ranked higher than MGTC in the report for one-year certificates.
Since 1988, CCW has been the independent source of in-depth information for and about two-year college faculty, administrators, and trustees. Published biweekly, each edition provides readers with news and features concerning community and two-year colleges, including analyses of critical academic trends and issues, vital statistics, technology updates, and employment opportunities.
CCW publishes a special report annually ranking the top 100 degree and certificate producing two-year institutions. The report acknowledges that while it is just one measure of the College's contribution to the community, the number of degrees and certificates awarded is one of the most tangible and countable outcomes that lends itself to analysis and ranking.
Middle Georgia Technical College offers over 75 Technical Certificates of Credit in the areas of Aerospace, Business, Allied Health, Personal Services, Industry and Trade, and Information Technology, including Commercial Truck Driving. The length of time for completion varies for Technical Certificates, but usually takes anywhere from one to four quarters. In addition, MGTC also offers several completely online certificates, including Medical Billing Clerk and Network Technician.
