MGTC Child Development Center Officially Opens to Children
Warner Robins - The Child Development Center (CDC) at Middle Georgia Technical College (MGTC) in Warner Robins officially opened its doors June 1 to MGTC's youngest students - children ages 3 through 12. The mission of the CDC, the College's newest initiative, is to provide a safe, rich learning environment, deliberately designed to foster the learning of young children through exploration and discovery. Spaces at the Center are available to all children from the local community.
The CDC is staffed by educators who have Early Childhood degrees and experience caring for young children. Students in the MGTC Early Childhood Care and Education program participate in the Center by observing documenting, assessing children's development, and by facilitating experiences as required for their program of study.
The MGTC CDC curriculum is inspired by Developmentally Appropriate Practices, the Reggio Emilia philosophy, and the children. Teachers compare, discuss, and interpret children's actions and conversations to facilitate learning base on their findings. The curriculum emerges in the process of each activity and is adjusted accordingly throughout each activity.
Openings at the Child Development Center are still available to children ages 3 through 12 of MGTC students, staff, and faculty, and members of the community. The Center also accepts subsidies and offers a before and after school program. To inquire about enrollment in MGTC's Child Development Center, call (478) 988-6824 or stop by at Building K, 80 Cohen Walker Drive in Warner Robins.
