Happy Hour Clients Receive Cosmetology Services at MGTC

Warner Robins - Consumers from Happy Hour in Warner Robins recently came to the Cosmetology lab at Middle Georgia Technical College (MGTC) for haircuts and styling. Each Cosmetology student worked on different clients and explained the process while performing the service. The Happy Hour consumers come to MGTC each quarter to receive cosmetology services.

MGTC Cosmetology Program Chair Jolie Martin works with Happy Hour to arrange for their quarterly visit.

"This is a great project for our students," said Martin. "We love it when Happy Hour visits because it gives our students a chance to learn how to work with various types of clients and develop and enhance their skills even further."

Since 1957, Happy Hour Service Center has been serving the developmentally disabled citizens of Houston County. Consumers are trained in daily living skills, communication skills, social skills, and work adjustment skills and encouraged to reach his or her full potential. Happy Hour, which employs consumers in various areas including cooking, recycling, and assembling kits, also provides residential services.

MGTC offers a diploma program and Technical Certificates of Credit in the areas of Cosmetology and Barbering. New student registration for Fall Quarter begins August 24, 2009. Classes will begin September 29. For more information or to apply for the upcoming quarter call 478-988-6800 or log on to www.middlegatech.edu.
