MGTC to Host Save A Life Tour
Warner Robins - In an effort to educate the local community about the effects of drinking and driving, the Middle Georgia Technical College (MGTC) Foundation will present the Save A Life Tour at the MGTC campus Friday, September 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is sponsored by State Farm Insurance.
The Save A Life Tour, a production of Kramer Entertainment, is a hard-hitting, in-your-face interactive presentation designed to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving. Kramer Entertainment takes this tour across the United States to spread the work about the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol. Kramer's one-of-a-kind drunk driving simulator gives the operator a truly intense experience of what effect alcohol has on your driving skills.
Dann Webb, director of Admissions at MGTC, who is coordinating the event, hopes this event will be an eye-opening experience for attendees.
"According to national statistics, young drivers between the ages of 15 and 20 years old are more often involved in alcohol related crashes than any other age group," said Webb. "Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for people in this age category. It is because of this frightening statistic that MGTC, along with the MGTC Foundation and State Farm Insurance, is hosting this event in an effort to reduce the number of lives lost."
State Farm Insurance and local agents have partnered with the MGTC Foundation to bring this awareness event to students at Middle Georgia Technical College. In addition, high school juniors and seniors have been invited to participate and members of the community are also welcome. Due to the graphic nature of this event, it is not recommended for children.
This event will be available to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Student Pavilion on the south side of the MGTC Campus, located at 80 Cohen Walker Drive in Warner Robins. This is a drop-in event and facilitators will be on-hand to guide you through the experience. For more information about the Save A Life Tour, call 478.988.6800.
The Middle Georgia Technical College Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the College and its students by supplementing available state resources with private funding to help further the College's mission of contributing to the economic and educational development of the community. All donations made to the MGTC Foundation are tax-deductible.
