MGTC Sorority Holds Fundraiser for Fellow Student

Warner Robins - Students in the Kappa Omega Sorority at Middle Georgia Technical in Warner Robins recently hosted a fundraiser for fellow student Alando Bray. Over $1,130 was raised to help Bray with his medical bills.

Bray, who is a current student in the Practical Nursing program, is in renal failure and has to undergo kidney dialysis. Bray is dedicated to his education and manages to study during his treatments and continues to attend classes.

Moved by his story, Kappa Omega Sorority members voted to help Bray by raffling off a 22 inch flat panel television. Tickets were $10 each and all proceeds went to Bray.

The drawing for the raffle was held at MGTC's 2009 Graduation Celebration June 10. Bray drew the winning ticket which belonged to Shannon Durham. In addition, Sorority members presented Bray with a ceremonial check for $1,131.

Kappa Omega is one of the newest student organizations at MGTC. Members concentrate on providing services through community outreach such as volunteering, adopting a needy family at Christmastime, and conducting fundraisers for those in need.
