MGTC Honor Society Inducts Members
Warner Robins - The Middle Georgia Technical College Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) recently inducted 16 new members. The induction ceremony was held during the Spring Quarter Awards Day Ceremony in the Auditorium at MGTC's campus in Warner Robins.
Cynthia Rumney, Computer Information Systems program chair, and Jolie Martin, Cosmetology program chair, both advisors for NTHS, conducted the ceremony.
For their induction, the students stood as a group and recited the membership pledge. Each student was then called on stage to receive a certificate and lapel pin. In addition, they each received a special gift bag.
To receive this honor, students must be nominated by an instructor, be a full-time student at MGTC for at least two complete quarters, and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.8. The student must also demonstrate leadership abilities and display a commendable attitude, good mentality, worthy character, credible achievement, and a desire to pursue a career in the field of his or her technical study.
Middle Georgia Technical College students who were inducted during the ceremony include Jimmy Cannon of Warner Robins, Aircraft Structural Technology; Rebecca Carlisle of Byron, Accounting; Lonnie Cook of Macon, Air Conditioning Technology; Portia Fordham of Eastman, Dental Assisting; Tifany Gatewood of Warner Robins, Aircraft Structural Technology; Deirdre Gavel of Byron, Business Administrative Technology; Justine LaPine of Bonaire, Computer Information Systems; Helen Maddox of Perry, Accounting; Christopher Marks of Warner Robins, Electronics Technology; Larry McConnell, Jr. of Warner Robins, Aircraft Structural Technology; Nate Pedersen of Byron, Aircraft Structural Technology; Patience Phinisee of Warner Robins, Cosmetology; Amanda Piper of Warner Robins, Dental Assisting; Gary Stunkard of Bonaire, Aircraft Structural Technology; Antwan Thomas of Unadilla, Industrial Systems Technology; and Melissa Williams of Bonaire, Information Technology Professional.
As a member of NTHS, students must possess the seven characteristic principles of the organization which are knowledge, skill, honesty, service, responsibility, citizenship, and leadership. The Society has recognized outstanding student achievement in workforce education since 1984. Over 1,500 schools and colleges throughout the U.S. and its territories are affiliated with NTHS. Induction into NTHS is a benchmark—the highest award for excellence in the workforce education in America.
