MGTC Cosmetology Students Perform Makeovers for Peers
Warner Robins - Students in the Cosmetology program at Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins recently performed makeovers for students in the Dental Assisting program. The project benefitted students in both programs and was arranged by the program chairs for each program.
Dental Assisting students who are nearing the end of their program are getting ready to graduate and begin their job search, where a professional appearance is a must for a good first impression. The upcoming graduates received makeovers from the Cosmetology students including haircuts, styles, facials, and manicures.
Debbie Wrenn, program chair for Dental Assisting, and Jolie Martin, program chair for the Cosmetology department, worked together to make the project mutually beneficial for both programs.
"My students are receiving a grade for the services they perform today," said Martin. "The Dental Assisting students will fill out surveys regarding the customer service they receive and Cosmetology students will be evaluated and will receive a grade based on the feedback. This helps to build the vital customer service skills needed in the Cosmetology industry."
The Cosmetology Department also offers services at reduced rates to the public. Salon services available include cuts, styles, color, facials, manicures, and more. Services are available during the day and on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings each week during the quarter. The Cosmetology lab is always accepting clients. To make an appointment, call 478.988.6800, ext. 6913.
