MGTC Dental Hygiene Students Award Raffle Prize

Warner Robins - Kristie Kunkel was the lucky winner of a basket full of Valentine goodies raffled off by the Dental Hygiene (DHY) department at Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins. The DHY students conducted the raffle as a fundraiser to assist students with the cost of taking State Board exams.

The basket included items such as a home spa kit, lotion sets, chocolate candies, gift cards, a GPS navigator, and much more. Kunkel is a Business Administrative Technology student at MGTC.

Aubree Manheim, president of the junior Dental Hygiene class commented that the raffle was a great success. "On behalf of our entire Junior Dental Hygiene class, I would like to thank everyone who participated in our raffle," said Manheim. "This raffle is just one way in which we attempt to raise the money needed for our expensive board exams that we will take when we graduate in June of 2011."

The class sold over 890 tickets and raised a grand total $1,496.00. The group will continue to hold various fundraisers throughout their time in the program in order to help defray the cost of their final certification exam. Each student must pass the state board exam, which costs upwards of $1,400, in order to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
