MGTC Phi Beta Lambda Club Donates to the March of Dimes
Warner Robins - The Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) student organization at Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins recently made a $100 donation to the March of Dimes. Jennifer Simmons, community director for the South Georgia Division, accepted the gift from the students.
Students in the club raise money each quarter through pasta sales and a portion of the proceeds go toward supporting the March of Dimes. The Xi Alpha Nu chapter of PBL at MGTC already donated $325 to the organization over the current school year. This donation raises the total to $425.
"We are proud to support the March of Dimes and their mission," said Janet Kelly, MGTC Phi Beta Lambda club advisor. "By hosting pasta sales each quarter, all of our members are able to take part and help raise money to donate to the March of Dimes. We also look for other opportunities to support the organization throughout the year, such as the Houston County March for Babies."
The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide and its premier event, March for Babies®, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
Phi Beta Lambda has adopted the March of Dimes as the organization's local, state, and national project for many years. At each PBL conference, students are given the opportunity to participate in a mini-walk for Babies. Each participant donates at least $10 and receives a t-shirt and the opportunity to walk for babies.
Phi Beta Lambda is a national organization and is the post-secondary equivalent of Future Business Leaders of America, or FBLA. Phi Beta Lambda is dedicated to professional development, community service, and building leadership skills. Students from all program areas are invited to join the organization. For more information and to join the club, contact PBL Club Advisor Janet Kelly at 478.988.6800, ext. 5024.
