Mark Craddock Chosen as Middle Georgia Technical College GOAL Winner
Warner Robins - Mark Craddock, a Radiologic Technology student at Middle Georgia Technical College from Warner Robins, has been named as MGTC's winner of the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL).
The announcement was made at the Winter Quarter Awards Ceremony held at MGTC.
Craddock was chosen by a panel of local leaders over three other nominees for the award. The runners-up were Vanessa Phillips of Warner Robins, Industrial Systems Technology; Jessica Worsley of Bonaire, Practical Nursing; and Rhonda Mincey of Perry, Criminal Justice Technology.
GOAL, a statewide program of the Technical College System of Georgia, honors excellence in academics and leadership among the state's technical college students. Local GOAL winners are selected at each of the state's 26 technical colleges as well as the two Board of Regents colleges with technical education divisions.
The announcement of Craddock as the MGTC GOAL winner was made by Vice President of Student Affairs Craig Jackson.
Craddock went on to participate in the Central Region competition, which was held at Heart of Georgia Technical College in Dublin, where he competed against students from eight other colleges in central Georgia. Three students from each of three regions in the state, for a total of nine, will compete at the state level for the title of 2011 State GOAL winner.
Craddock, along with all other college winners, will receive an all-expense paid trip to Atlanta in May, where the top nine will be announced. At the state conference, students will participate in professional development and leadership activities and interviews for the top nine will take place. The state winner will be announced at the GOAL Awards Banquet Thursday evening, May 26.
The student chosen as the 2011 state winner will serve as an ambassador for Technical Education over the next year and will receive the GOAL medallion and a brand new Chevrolet Cruze.
″Being selected as the GOAL winner for Middle Georgia Technical College is truly an honor,″ said Craddock. ″I am looking forward to participating in the GOAL conference. This has been an awesome experience and I am looking forward to sharing the good news about Technical Education with others.″
Craddock was nominated for the GOAL award by Radiologic Technology instructor Evelyn Grove. Craddock serves as the president of the Rad Tech class of 2011, as well as Student Leadership Council president.
