MGTC Foundation Hosts 5th Annual Golf Tournament
Warner Robins - The Middle Georgia Technical College Foundation hosted its 6th annual Golf Tournament Friday, April 1 at Houston Lake Country Club in Perry. Over 20 teams participated in the event to raise funds to support scholarships for students at Middle Georgia Technical College.
Jeff Smith Chrysler Dodge Jeep and KIA of Perry served as the corporate sponsor for this year's event. At the tournament, Smith unveiled and presented a brand new 2011 KIA Optima, with a full-color wrap, to the MGTC Foundation.
Satterfield and Dempsey Jewelers sponsored the closest-to-the-pin prize by donating a Rolex watch. Hole-in-one prizes were available on all Par 3 holes and were sponsored by Middle Georgia Vending and Satterfield and Dempsey Jewelers.
Cheryl Stelk, MGTC director of College Advancement, said she was pleased with the results of the fundraising event.
"We had so many supportive sponsors for this year's event," Stelk said. "We especially want to thank our corporate sponsor, Jeff Smith Kia, for the generous support they gave to our tournament. We could not have had such a successful event without our dedicated sponsors."
The tournament started with lunch for all players followed by a shotgun scramble at noon. At the conclusion of the round of golf, door prizes and money for a 50/50 raffle were given out and prizes were awarded for first place net, first place gross, second, third, and fourth place teams. Mike Daley was the winner of the 50/50 raffle.
Finishing first place gross in the tournament was the team sponsored by Rite Way Homes. Team members included Stanley Wright, Ron Baggett, Dr. Kevin Baggett, and Sebie Lacey. First place net was awarded to the team of Keith Beckham, Ed Mashburn, Dey Palmer, and Phillip Moore, sponsored by CB&T Bank. Second place went to the Cox Communications team of Steve Little, Jason Renfroe, and Justin Ritchie. The ComSouth team of Lee Arnold, Mike Dunaway, Bob Krueger, and Mike McClain claimed the third place prize. Fourth place went to Eric Bobo, Doyle Crider, Michael DellaDonna, and Chad Layfield, sponsored by MidSouth Federal Credit Union. And, fifth place was awarded to the team sponsored by Wayne Buzzell and Mike Daley. Team members were Mike Daley, Mike Daley, Jr., Butch Sartain, and Ben Jones.
The Middle Georgia Technical College Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the College and its students by supplementing available state resources with private funding to help further the College's mission of contributing to the economic and educational development of the community. The annual golf tournament is just one way in which the Foundation raises funds to support its mission. All donations made to the MGTC Foundation are tax-deductible.
