Nursing Students Pinned at Middle Georgia Tech
Warner Robins - Graduating students in the Practical Nursing program at Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins were pinned at the recent Winter Quarter Awards Day ceremony held in the auditorium on campus. The pin signifies that the student has completed all coursework and clinical requirements for the Practical Nursing program and is eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), or “boards,” to become a licensed practical nurse, or LPN.
Students who were pinned at the ceremony include Deborah Copeland of Bonaire; Amanda Jenkins of Warner Robins; Kelly Mcdevitt of Warner Robins; Peggy Ogletree of Byron; Patricia Roberts of Elko; Daisy Turkali of Warner Robins; and Caren Waltz of Kathleen.
Presenting the students with their pins was Practical Nursing Program Chair Anne Sartain. Assisting Sartain with the presentations were Practical Nursing faculty members Fredia Wimsatt and Dee Mohlenkamp.
In addition to the pins, two students also received special awards. Patricia Roberts received the award for Best Clinician, which recognizes a student who demonstrates diligent work ethics, provides competent and compassionate care for clients, and promotes teamwork among peers. This recipient of this award must also demonstrate exemplary performance in the clinical setting and hold high the standards of the Practical Nursing field.
Amanda Jenkins was recognized for excelling in both the academic and clinical arenas with the Academic Award for the Practical Nursing graduates. The Academic award is presented to the student who has achieved and maintained the highest academic standards, including the highest grade point average in the graduating class.
The Practical Nursing program at Middle Georgia Technical College is a five quarter program. Students receive classroom and hands-on training in a clinical setting.
