Nursing Students Pinned at Middle Georgia Tech

Graduating students in the Practical Nursing program at Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins were pinned at the recent Spring Quarter Awards Day ceremony held in the auditorium on campus. The pin signifies that the student has completed all coursework and clinical requirements for the Practical Nursing program and is eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), or "boards," to become a licensed practical nurse, or LPN.

Students who were pinned at the ceremony include Debra Borden of Hawkinsville; Pam Brown of Byron; Sara Lammatao of Kathleen; Elizabeth Mills of Macon; Kimberly Pace of Perry; Amanda Potvin of Bonaire; Elma Rogers of Byron; Kathleen Russell of Robins AFB; Ashley Walker of Warner Robins; and Jessica Worsley of Warner Robins.

Presenting the students with their pins was Practical Nursing Program Chair Anne Sartain. Assisting Sartain with the presentations were Practical Nursing faculty members Janet Tanner and Dee Mohlenkamp.

In addition to the pins, three students also received special awards. For the first time, there was a tie for one of the special class awards. Sara Lammatao and Elizabeth Mills both received the award for Best Clinician, which recognizes the student who demonstrates diligent work ethics, provides competent and compassionate care for clients, and promotes teamwork among peers. The recipient of this award must also demonstrate exemplary performance in the clinical setting and hold high the standards of the Practical Nursing field.

Jessica Worsley was recognized for excelling in the academic arena with the Academic Award for the Practical Nursing graduates. The Academic award is presented to the student who has achieved and maintained the highest academic standards, including the highest grade point average in the graduating class.
