Middle Georgia Technical Colleges Offers New Opportunities to Students
When classes start this fall at Middle Georgia Technical College in Warner Robins and Hawkinsville, students will notice some changes and many new opportunities available to them. Not only will the College adopt a new semester calendar, but students will also have new options available for paying for their education.
For over a year now, the College has been preparing for the conversion from a quarter calendar to a semester calendar. With six extra weeks, the semester calendar will allow students more instructional time and expanded opportunities for hands-on learning. The semester calendar will allow MGTC, as well as 24 other colleges in the Technical College System of Georgia, to align itself with 80 percent of colleges and universities across the nation. This alignment will put the TCSG in step with K-12 public schools and the University System of Georgia, and will allow for easier transfer of credit.
Recently legislated changes in the HOPE Grant and HOPE Scholarship program have prompted many students to look for alternative ways to help finance their education. Middle Georgia Technical College is taking steps to make sure the needs of students are met. MGTC's Financial Aid department has begun offering federal student loans. The low-interest loans are available for qualified students, in addition to the HOPE and Federal PELL Grant programs.
To ease the strain on students' wallets, MGTC has partnered with Nelnet to offer a payment plan option. Students can contact this company directly to set up an installment plan to pay tuition and fees. For more information on the Nelnet automatic payment plan option, call 800.609.8056 or log on to www.middlegatech.edu and click current students>payment plan.
MGTC is committed to continually work to make its students' higher education experience a positive one. The College offers over 100 degree, diploma, and technical certificate options by way of day, evening, or online classes. Job placement assistance is also available.
