Business After Hours Active After Long Absence

Middle Georgia Technical College’s Hawkinsville center volunteered and hosted the first “Business After Hours” event in several months for the Chamber of Commerce, last Tuesday at the college’s Sam A. Way, Sr. Learning Center.
The event is sponsored by the Hawkinsville-Pulaski County of Chamber of Commerce, and is a chance for local business people to socialize and talk informally about issues.
This round of Business After Hours brought numerous special guests. Among those in attendance were State Representative Jimmy Pruett and MGTC President Dr. Ivan H. Allen.
Dr. Allen spoke about the importance of public private partnerships in creating an atmosphere in which business can thrive and reiterated the important role that Middle Georgia Technical College plays in Hawkinsville and Pulaski County by providing a strong and educated workforce. He spoke about the new Sam A. Way, Sr. Learning Center as a prime example of the ways in which the community and the college can partner for the benefit of both.
Several door prizes, including gifts from local businesses and gift certificates were given out. The Chamber of Commerce hopes to make Business After Hours a regular event in Hawkinsville.
