Janet Russell, 2006 GOAL Winner, Receives Fred Harper Award

June 5, 2006

Janet RussellJanet Russell, a practical nursing student at Middle Georgia Technical College, was named college winner of the Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) for 2006. Ms. Russell is a full-time student at MGTC, and she resides in Warner Robins with her husband, Jim, and their three children, ages 5, 12, and 17.

Each year, the GOAL winners from across the state vote among themselves to select the winner of the Fred Harper Award of Distinction. This award is named for a former Vice President at Central Georgia Technical College who was instrumental in founding the GOAL program. The award was presented to Ms. Russell who deemed most outstanding by her fellow college GOAL winners, which makes it a most coveted award.

In May, Russell competed with students from 38 other technical colleges and divisions in Georgia for the title of State GOAL Winner.
