Technical College Library Council to Meet at Middle Georgia Tech

The winter meeting of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Library Council will be held at Middle Georgia Technical College Friday, February 1 in the Auditorium of Building A. Library services directors from Technical Colleges across the state will convene to exchange ideas and discuss new regulations affecting libraries at post-secondary institutions.

The quarterly business meeting of the TCSG Library Council allows participants the opportunity to review and discuss proposals for new and additional library services or resources, to nominate and select council officers, and to exchange ideas and get updates on new regulations and other changes that affect the daily operations of the Technical College libraries. Jerry Stovall, current president of the Library Council and director of Library Services at South Georgia Technical College in Americus, will preside over the meeting.

“I always look forward to the opportunity to share ideas and network with other librarians,“ said Jane Summey, director of Library Services at Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia. “It’s a great chance to learn about new things that are happening in technical college libraries and how other directors are meeting the challenges that we all face.“

Dr. Dumont C. Bunn, director of Library Services at Middle Georgia Technical College, and the MGTC library staff will serve as hosts for the meeting. Other members of the staff include Ruth Faircloth, Hal Clay, and Peggy Colbert. Preceding the meeting, a dinner will be held for the group at the Houston Lake Country Club on January 31.
