Nebraska transplant Joi King would tell you that for her the opportunity came in the form of a paper leaflet looking for volunteers in a neighborhood literacy program several years ago. The bonus for her was that the program offered day care for the children of volunteers, which turned out to be the beginning of a career for King, mother of two, and the link for adults, young and old, to succeed in receiving their General Education Development (GED) diploma.</description>
